It is praiseworthy to disparage ignorance. Enlightened civilizations understand the value of learning and knowledge. Knowledge and education has now become synonymous with our contemporary definitions of success. O ignorant ones, take heed, lest the world snub its nose and pass you by. Ignorance of the material world is never easy nor peaceful but in the right minds and in good hearts, one may still find truth to the old adage that "ignorance is bliss."
For all it's shortcomings, ignorance is still not the lowest level of the states of human minds. What could be worse than ignorance? It is foolishness. The ignoramus may commit errors simply because he doesn't know any better. O fool! You are worse because you made the mistake despite knowing the truth! How can you look at yourself in the mirror? How can you walk with an air of superiority as you pass by the poor humble ignoramus? You are at a lower level than he. His heart is clean while yours is filled with the filth of your own arrogance.
O fool! What do you know? Above every knower is another knower. If you have as great a mind as you think, why not use it to deconstruct your monstrous ego? The world will be a better place when you stop revering yourself and start thinking of how you may be of service to others. If you want knowledge and wisdom, you must know that first step on this journey begins with the three words: "I don't know." Empty the cup of your mind and admit you have nothing. Knowledge can not be poured into a full cup. Humility is the path to knowledge and there is no higher attainment for any human being than the achievement of humility. When you begin to understand what humility is you may actually realize it is part of your primordial essence. You may actually begin to understand who you are. And consequently he who knows himself, knows his Lord.
And Allah knows best. Wa min Allah tawfiq bi hurmat il Habib, bi hurmat il Fatiha.
